Money, stated plainly
What the platform takes, and when.
A fee is only charged when funding actually reaches a creator. Failed campaigns, cancelled campaigns and refunded principal carry no platform fee at all.
Gas is separate
Network gas is paid to the chain, not to Robinhoodao, and is never bundled into the platform fee.
Fee rules
- Simple V1 · existing
- Exactly 10% of gross funding, charged once on success
- Milestone V2
- 5% of released principal, charged only as each tranche releases
- Failed campaign
- No fee. Full principal is refundable.
- Cancelled campaign
- No fee. Full principal is refundable.
- Terminated milestone campaign
- No fee on unreleased principal. Fees already taken on released tranches are not reversed.
- Token sale
- Not available in this deployment
- Rounding
- Fees are computed by integer division and rounded down, so a fee can never exceed its stated percentage
Work it out with your own number
Illustrative calculations use integer wei. The actual split is fixed in each campaign contract.
Simple V1 · existing
- Gross funding
- 100 ETH
- Platform fee (10%)
- 10 ETH
- Creator receives
- 90 ETH
Milestone V2 · example 20 / 40 / 40 split
| Tranche | Principal released | Fee (5%) | Creator receives |
|---|---|---|---|
| Milestone 1 · 20% | 20 ETH | 1 ETH | 19 ETH |
| Milestone 2 · 40% | 40 ETH | 2 ETH | 38 ETH |
| Milestone 3 · 40% | 40 ETH | 2 ETH | 38 ETH |
Total fee if every tranche releases: 5 ETH. If the campaign terminates after one tranche, only that tranche's fee has been charged.
This calculator is an example, not a transaction estimate. Actual gas is estimated by the wallet flow.
Questions people actually ask
Where is the milestone fee set?
The included Milestone V2 contract fixes the platform fee at 500 basis points, or 5% of each released tranche.
Can a fee be taken twice on the same money?
No. In the milestone contract a fee applies once per released tranche, and unreleased principal is never charged.
Do I pay a fee to get a refund?
No. Refunds return principal without a platform fee. You still pay network gas to submit the claim.
